Step 1: Understanding Luck

While I plan on covering tips and advice for making (And hopefully keeping) luck. This is going to be this blogs main focus.

The steps required to making luck. While it may seem confusing the idea of 'Making' luck. It's not.

Let's start with the most basic principle of making anything. That is understanding it.

We've most all been there. That horrible situation where your palms are sweaty, you think for sure whatever it is you're aiming for has been rejected. Whether it's that promotion, the new job prospect, even that one horse you bet your last bit of money on. You sit there nearly petrified. One part of you convinced that you've already failed/lost, the other clinging to those last shreds of hope. Hope that your 'luck' hasn't run out.

Then out of nowhere. Against all odds. Something miraculous happens. An unforeseeable result occurs and you find yourself saved from whatever dire situation you were in. As you look around you feel it. That awe inspiring resonance. How lucky you are.

And of course we have those less then desirable situations. The ones where our luck doesn't pan out. We don't make the long shot. Being late results in the bus actually leaving. It's a horrible feeling. How unlucky you've been.

So the question is what is this word we're using so often? If you've come across this page and read this far you know what word I'm talking about. Luck. Most easy answer to what that is? The definition: "good fortune; advantage or success, considered as the result of chance."

Sure that's all well in good, but is it REALLY? No. It's not good enough for me. For you, or for anyone else who understands life is a bit more about chance then skill most days.

We always take chances. Everyday getting out of bed (Or even staying in it.) is a chance. It could be the best day of your life. The last day. Or the worst. We are always at the decision of chance.
But that doesn't mean it's not possibly to be extremely lucky. Or to believe you're incapable of creating good luck. In fact I'd go so far as to say, it takes more work to have bad luck, then it does to have (And see good).

To sum it all up. Understanding luck, is accepting that we're all following the road chance (or fate if you prefer) makes for us. Though just because we follow it doesn't mean we can't pick up a pot of gold along the way or avoid falling into a pit of spikes.
